Updating Intel Graphics Card Drivers: Simple and Quick
The Intel Graphics card plays a crucial role in processing images on your computer. To fully utilize the performance of your graphics card, updating the driver is essential. This article will guide you through two simple ways to update your Intel Graphics card driver, helping your computer run more smoothly, display sharper images, and provide an enhanced entertainment experience.
Method 1: Using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant
1. What is Intel Driver & Support Assistant?
The Intel Driver & Support Assistant is a free program provided by Intel that automatically detects and installs drivers. With this software, you can:
- Easily identify programs installed by Intel or third parties.
- Scan for relevant software updates supported by Intel, along with other system and device information.
- Provide integrated support and links to additional support information.
2. Download Intel Driver & Support Assistant
You can download the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant by clicking on the link provided.
3. Installation and Use of Driver & Support Assistant
Step 1. Download and install the software on your computer.
After installation, you will need to restart your computer.
Step 2. Install or update the Intel Graphics card driver.
Launch the Intel Driver & Support Assistant. You can quickly search for it in the Start menu by typing "Intel". The tool will not have a visible interface but will be hidden in the System tray. Open the System tray, click on the Intel icon, and select Check For New Drivers.
The tool will automatically open your web browser and scan the drivers on your computer. Once completed, you will receive some information about your computer along with details about the drivers and any available updates.
To download the driver, you can select Download all updates or go to each driver and choose Download. After downloading the driver, select Install Now to install it. A Driver installation window will then appear, allowing you to choose Upgrade to update the driver.
The installation time will vary depending on the driver file size and your internet speed. Once the installation is complete, you may need to restart your computer for everything to function properly.
Method 2: Manual Installation
FPT Shop recommends using the first method, as automatic updates are easier and more suitable for most users. However, if for some reason the automatic update does not work, you can follow these steps for manual updating.
Step 1. Identify the Processor Name
You can identify it by the label on the packaging or directly on the processor. The most convenient way is to press the Windows key on your keyboard and access System, then select System Information. You will see the processor name under "Processor".
Step 2. Visit Intel’s Support Page
Go to the Intel download page and enter the processor name you found in step 1.
Step 3. Find the Correct Graphics Card and Download
Click on Drivers (located on the left under Filter By) and then filter the results by selecting Graphics. Here, you will find Intel Graphics – Windows DCH Drivers, which is typically the latest driver update.
Click the download button next to it to download the driver for your graphics card.
Step 4. Open and Install the .exe File
After downloading the installation file, open it and click through the installation process until it is complete.
Step 5. Activate the Driver and Update the Graphics Card
Activate and update the Intel Graphics card driver by following these steps:
- Open Device Manager.
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard and type Device Manager.
- Double-click on Display Adapters and select the Intel Graphics device.
- Click on the Driver tab.
- Verify that the Driver Version and Driver Date are correct.
And that's it! I've shown you how to easily update your Intel Graphics card driver at home. If you have any questions or need support, feel free to leave a comment below!
