The simplest and easiest way to set a password for a Windows computer

If you want to increase the security of your computer, you can set a password for it, or if you want to change your computer's password but don't know how, please read the following article.

I. How to set a password on a computer running Windows 7

For those with computers running Win 7, you can change the password as follows:

Step 1: Go to the Start menu then select Control Panel.

Step 2: Choose User Account and Family Safety.

Step 3: Select Change your Windows password.

Step 4: Then choose Change your password.

Step 5: Enter the following information:

• Current password: Enter your current password (leave blank if not applicable).
• New password: Fill in your new password.
• Confirm new password: Retype your new password once again.

Then select Change password.

Note: Type a password hint only if it's closely related to the password, otherwise leave it blank.

II. How to set a password on a computer running Windows 8

For those with computers running Win 8, you can change the password as follows:

Step 1: Move the mouse to the right corner of the screen to display the Charm Bar.

Step 2: Choose Settings then select Change PC settings.

Step 3: Click on Users and then choose Change your password.

Step 4: Enter the following information as directed

• Current password: Enter your current password (leave blank if not applicable).
• New password: Fill in your new password.
• Confirm new password: Retype your new password once again.

After completion, select Next.

III. How to set a password on a computer running Windows 10

For those with computers running Windows 10, you can change the password as follows:

Step 1: Go to the Start menu and select Settings.

Step 2: Go to Accounts.

Step 3: Select Sign-in options then choose Change.

Step 4: Enter your Current password and click Next.

Step 5:

• Enter your new password.
• Retype your new password to confirm.
• In the Password Hint section, enter a hint related to the password in case you forget.

Step 6: Choose Finish to complete.
