Before guiding you through the process of deleting a Facebook account, let’s first understand what happens if you permanently delete your Facebook account.

I. What Happens if You Permanently Delete Your Facebook Account?

  • You will not be able to recover the account anymore.
  • All the posts, images, and videos on your personal page will be permanently deleted.
  • You will no longer be able to use Facebook Messenger.
  • You will not be able to log in to apps and websites using the Facebook login feature anymore.
  • Any fan pages you have created will also be deleted, unless you transfer full ownership to another account.
  • The messages you have sent to friends will still be stored in their inboxes.

3. Advice

If you simply want to stop using Facebook for a while, and may want to return in the future, consider deactivating your Facebook account instead of deleting it. The deactivation process is very similar to the permanent deletion, but instead of selecting "Delete," you choose to "Deactivate". When an account is deactivated, keep in mind the following:

  • Your profile will not be accessible to others. However, your photos, posts, and videos are not deleted and can be restored.
  • You can still use Facebook Messenger. People can still search for you on Facebook Messenger and message you.
  • You still have access to login for apps and websites using the Facebook login feature.
  • Any fan pages you've created will also be deactivated. If you want to keep your fan pages active, you'll need to transfer complete control to another account.
  • You can reactivate your account whenever you want.
