Surface Laptop 7: Breakthrough with Snapdragon X Chip, AI Copilot+, and New Design
Microsoft has officially unveiled the Surface Laptop 7, one of the first Windows laptops to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chip. The combination of a new design, powerful performance, and advanced AI features promises to deliver a completely different user experience.
The new PC Copilot+ initiative is the next phase of the "AI PC" that Microsoft has been promoting in recent months. PC Copilot+ can perform a number of next-generation AI experiences exclusive to these PC models, including the new Windows Recall feature, which can remember everything you see and do on your PC, real-time language translation, and enhanced Windows Studio Effects.
Surface Laptop 7 Specifications
The Surface Laptop 7 is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite processors, delivering incredible performance and impressive all-day battery life. In fact, this laptop is more powerful than the Surface Laptop 6 for Business, which comes with Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors.
The Surface Laptop 7 is available in two screen sizes: 13-inch and 15-inch. However, the 13-inch model has a slightly larger screen compared to the Surface Laptop 5, increasing from 13.5 inches to 13.8 inches, thanks to thinner bezels. The 15-inch model retains the same size. Both models feature touchscreen displays with a dynamic 120 Hz refresh rate, with resolutions of 2304 x 1536 (13.8 inches) or 2496 x 1664 (15 inches), and support for Dolby Vision IQ.
The Surface Laptop 7 supports 65W fast charging. The 15-inch version comes with a 65W charger, while the 13.8-inch version includes a 39W charger. The new Surface Laptop is equipped with a Surface Studio Full HD camera. Audio is enhanced with AI, featuring premium Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Atmos, and Studio Mics that detect and amplify your voice.
The design of the Surface Laptop 7 has been completely refreshed. The new generation features thinner display bezels with rounded screen corners, as well as an updated keyboard with a larger haptic touchpad provided by Sensel. The laptop also features changes to its ports, including: 1 USB-A, 2 USB-C, 1 headphone jack, and 1 Surface Connect.
The new Surface Laptop offers multiple configuration options, starting with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD storage with the Snapdragon X Plus chip, but storage can be increased to a 1TB SSD and 32 GB of RAM (the 64 GB RAM version is available as a pre-order only) on both the 13.8-inch and 15-inch versions (including the Snapdragon X Elite chip version). Both versions are equipped with the Qualcomm Adreno GPU.
Surface Laptop 7 Price and Colors
The Surface Laptop 7 comes in four colors: Black, Platinum, Copper Gold, and Sapphire Blue. The laptop is priced starting at $999 for the 13.8-inch model and $1,199 for the 15-inch model.
With its new design, powerful performance, and advanced AI features, the Surface Laptop 7 is an excellent choice for users seeking a premium and modern laptop. The combination of the Snapdragon X chip and AI Copilot+ promises to usher in a new era for personal computing devices.
