How Does Super VOOC Fast Charging Work?

Super VOOC fast charging technology significantly improves charging efficiency by using 5V voltage and delivering up to 4A current, allowing the phone's battery to receive up to 20W of power. In contrast, other smart chargers also use 5V voltage but provide only 2A current, delivering 10W of power.

Normally, your phone heats up when you use it while charging. In this case, the fast-charging mode on your phone will turn off, reverting to normal charging to reduce the device's temperature.

However, Super VOOC fast charging operates differently. It can maintain fast charging while keeping the temperature lower, preventing the phone from overheating, even when users are gaming or watching videos.

What is the Charging Speed of Super VOOC?

For the OPPO Find X Lamborghini Limited Edition, the company equipped it with Super VOOC technology, allowing it to charge the 3,400mAh battery to 100% in just 35 minutes. OPPO achieved this charging efficiency by increasing the voltage from 5V to 10V.

In 2016, OPPO officially stated that the 5V voltage level is reasonable for preventing excessive heat buildup, ensuring low temperatures, and providing safer usage while charging.

Observers noted that OPPO has integrated protective measures with Super VOOC in the Find X to reduce temperature while maintaining stable charging efficiency and ensuring user safety.

Using a 5V - 1A charger, it would take up to 220 minutes to fully charge the OPPO Find X Lamborghini Limited Edition, while a standard 5V - 2A charger would take 135 minutes, and VOOC fast charging would take 90 minutes. In contrast, Super VOOC achieves full charging in just 35 minutes using a 10V - 5A charger.

How Does Super VOOC Improve Over VOOC?

OPPO introduced Super VOOC at MWC 2016 as an upgraded version of VOOC, featuring new circuit design changes, maintaining voltage levels, and using 10V - 5A current. The technology also includes two paired batteries to increase charging speed.

The VOOC Flash Charge adapter delivers 20W of power using 5V - 4A current, while the Super VOOC adapter provides up to 50W of power using 10V - 5A current. A standard charger fully charges a device in 200 minutes, VOOC takes nearly 100 minutes, but Super VOOC takes less than an hour. This shows that Super VOOC provides more effective fast charging.

Additionally, both VOOC and Super VOOC are notable for their safety features, as OPPO enforces strict quality control over hardware components.

OPPO also developed a 5-layer protection system for fast charging, allowing the charger and phone to recognize each other before high-current transmission begins. Voltage check circuits and fuses are included in both the chargers and phones. Once the battery is fully charged, the charger automatically stops supplying power to ensure safety.
