Google TV Streamer 4K Officially Launched: Next-Generation TV Box and Smart Home Control Hub
Are you looking to turn your regular TV into a modern, smart entertainment hub? Google has just officially launched the Google TV Streamer 4K, promising to bring a completely new entertainment experience.
Following several versions of Chromecast, Google has decided to rename its product to Google TV Streamer 4K. This marks a new step in positioning the product, not just as a streaming device but also as a smart home control hub.
Hardware
Google states that the processor of the Google Streamer will be 22% faster than the previous generation. Additionally, the Google Streamer comes with 4GB of RAM, double the previous version, and 32GB of storage, four times that of the Chromecast 4K.
The new chip also supports Google's Gemini AI, offering advanced AI features like personalized suggestions on your apps (YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, etc.), content summaries, and film analysis, which were not available in the previous generation.
Design and Functionality
The connection ports have been upgraded with HDMI 2.1, supporting 4K HDR output and 60fps, with HDR10(+), Dolby Vision, and HLG, along with Dolby Atmos audio standards.
The Chromecast has also been upgraded with a LAN port (gigabit port), improving your network situation compared to using Wi-Fi.
Chromecast Remote
The Chromecast remote has been redesigned with ergonomic features such as volume buttons moved to the side of the remote and a textured back for a better grip.
It also includes a feature to find the remote by pressing a button on the back of the Chromecast, causing the remote to emit a beeping sound. This feature can be activated by voice command, but the voice command is only compatible with Google phones or smart speakers supporting Google Assistant.
Connectivity
Wireless connections remain the same as the previous version: Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.1. However, it now includes Matter (a new smart home connectivity standard), which links Google devices, turning the Streamer into the center of Google Home. It also functions as a Thread border router.
A new customizable button on the remote can be programmed to open any app of your choice (e.g., launching the Google Home dashboard) or switch inputs. Smart home functions include checking the Nest Doorbell camera and controlling the new Nest Learning Thermostat.
The Google TV Streamer 4K is a product worth experiencing for those seeking a comprehensive and smart entertainment solution. With its compact design, user-friendly interface, and many attractive features, the Google TV Streamer 4K promises to deliver an excellent entertainment experience.
