Unitree G1 Humanoid Robot Officially Commercialized: Priced at $16,000, Ready to Serve
Unitree Robotics has officially launched the G1 humanoid robot to the market, priced at $16,000. With its agile mobility, ability to perform complex tasks, and compact design, the G1 promises to become a valuable companion in everyday life.
While many companies have introduced humanoid robots with diverse capabilities such as running, jumping, organizing, and cooking, these robots have primarily been showcased in laboratories or factories. Consumers have mostly seen them in videos shared on social media platforms like X, YouTube, or Facebook.
The Unitree G1 is an upgrade from the Unitree H1. Standing at 1.3 meters tall and weighing 35 kg, it is smaller and lighter than the H1, which is 1.8 meters tall and weighs 47 kg. The G1 is designed to perform flexible tasks in areas that are difficult for humans to access.
Internally, the robot is equipped with a high-performance 8-core CPU, though the specific model is not disclosed. Its head features a vision system that includes a Livox Mid-360 Lidar camera and an Intel RealSense D435 depth camera, allowing the G1 to "see" the world in 3D. The robot operates through its proprietary AI system called UnifoLM.
The G1's hands are articulated with motors in the arms, legs, and torso, enabling free movement. The robot can jump, walk at speeds of over 7 km/h, and climb stairs littered with debris. Compared to the H1, the G1's arm joints have been replaced with three-fingered hands, providing greater dexterity for tasks such as soldering wires, handling small objects, and flipping food in a pan. With a 9,000 mAh battery, the robot can operate autonomously for around two hours.
