Intel Extends Warranty to 5 Years for Faulty 13th and 14th Generation CPUs
Good news for Intel 13th and 14th generation CPU users! Intel has officially announced a decision to extend the warranty to 5 years for these chip lines due to discovered issues affecting system stability. This decision comes after users reported problems such as system freezes, unexpected reboots, and other processor-related errors.
Intel stated that this extended warranty policy is global, including those who previously purchased the affected chips. However, the warranty process will vary depending on how the processor was purchased. If you have a processor still in its original box, you can contact Intel directly to arrange an exchange. But if you have a tray processor or bought a pre-assembled computer, you need to contact the retailer who sold you the CPU or computer.
Intel emphasizes that the extended warranty applies to all new and previously purchased chips. Therefore, whether you bought the affected processor at launch or plan to buy it in the near future, you will be entitled to a 5-year warranty.
Additionally, Intel stated, "If customers have experienced instability symptoms on 13th and/or 14th generation desktop processors but were unsuccessful in previous warranties, we ask them to contact Intel Customer Support for further assistance and resolution."
Alongside the warranty extension, Intel also plans to release a patch for their CPUs in mid-August to prevent high voltage issues causing stability problems. However, the affected (or already damaged) processors will not be fixed by this patch, meaning affected users will have no choice but to undergo the warranty process.
